11 Holiday Movies to Watch This December

I don’t know about you, but I love December. It doesn’t matter where I am in the world but December always means a month of movies. Usually in some themed PJs, wine and the tree lights twinkling in the background. Here are just a few of the many festive films that we recommend to watch this December!

Last Holiday

Any movie with Queen Latifah has me, and this movie is no exception. It’s just a bonus of also having LL Cool J too!

Nativity

I discovered Nativity when I moved to the UK from America. This a bit of a cult-classic in the UK with youngish Martin Freeman. A fun movie for the whole family!

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

I love when you watch a movie and just know it’s gonna be a go-to for future movie nights. That is how I felt when watching Jingle Jangle. I also love a musical and this delivers not only some original songs but a visual adventure too!

Double Holiday

Couldn’t have this list and not have at least one Hallmark movie! To be honest, Hallmark Channel just hits different during these months. Double Holiday is a classic Hallmark plot so get the wine or hot chocolate and enjoy these cheesy romance.

Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas 1966 Version

It is a movie classic that I have known and loved since a child. I love the remake but there is something magical about the 1966 version that will always call to me.

Home Alone 1 and 2

Cheating a bit as counting this as one and not two movies but let us be real… can you really watch one without the other?! Bonus on Netflix they have a documentary series about how it was made and how it almost didn’t happen! Imagine never hearing Catherine O’Hara scream “Kevvvvviiiiinnnn”

A Rugrats Kwanzaa

This special episode of Rugrats always has me feeling all the feels as we learn about Kwanzaa from the view of Susie Carmichael. You can find it streaming on CBS All Access. Also, does anyone else find themselves wanting to binge Rugrats lately?!

The Muppet Christmas Carol

This is my husbands favorite Christmas movie and I’m pretty sure if I didn’t include it in this guide, I’d get coal. That being said, it’s a cute film and who doesn’t love Kermit?

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Some might argue this isn’t a true holiday movie but it takes place during the month of December in LA so I’m counting it! A murder mystery brings together a private eye, a struggling actress, and a thief masquerading as an actor. Great for a night of laughs!

Elf

I mean, I couldn’t leave Buddy off the list! Whenever I watch Elf, I feel happy and jolly. It is impossible to leave the couch feeling anything but happy and cozy.

The Night Before

Okay, this isn’t a typical holiday movie but it’s funny and great for those nights when you want something different that still delivers the holiday spirit. It has Seth Rogan in it so you can expect a certain type of comedy with The Night Before also starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie.
