Slaying Swim Season

Swimwear season has always been the most dreaded time of year for Fat Girls. Many of us feel uncomfortable exposing our bodies in a cultural climate that tells us we’ll never be enough. And until recently, there were very few swimwear options besides a tankini or swim dress for full-bodied babes to wear during the warmer months.

More than ever before, companies catering to us. Creating collections that flatter and flaunt our figures, collections we’re willing to spend our coins on. And influencers showing us how to rock these looks right. Here are a few tips and tricks to show you how to slay this swim season.

Go For The Bold

Don’t be afraid to don a bold and bright bikini. Because why not make a scene if they’re already staring?

Embrace Your Booty

From full coverage in contrasting fabrics. To barely-there string bikinis. Let your beautiful booty be the star of the show. You know what they say, sun’s out, buns out!

Color Coordinate

From accessories to lipstick to hair, it’s ok to be a little extra. Or even a lot extra, it’s all about being confident and showcasing your own personal style.

🌵 🌵 🌵 feeling sharp in my girl @gabifresh new @swimsuitsforall drop. i used to haaate swimsuit shopping, dread swim season (which ironically is year-round in LA!) and make excuses why i couldn’t go to the beach or a pool party. i feel so FREE now to enjoy my life, enjoy shopping for suits and styling swim looks, and my hope for every one of you if you’re not quite there yet is the same. life is too short to let the perceived judgement of others or insecurities about our bodies hold us back from making a literal splash in this world. I know if i can learn to love what i once loathed, so can you. we can do this together. let’s make this the year of freedom from anything that no longer serves us or limits our lives or happiness in any way 💪🏻

Dare to Bare

Skin is ALWAYS in! Regardless of your size, you can show as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. This season mesh and cutout details are trending.

We greatly over estimate the power of people’s perceptions of us. We spend years believing that our presence matters when we are respected and welcomed by our peers. Our body is beautiful when someone declares it to be. Our thoughts matter when they are accepted as truth and celebrated. We have value when someone else tells us we do. However I have found there is more power in a single ounce of self belief than ever could be milked from another’s opinion. One is a temporary perspective, based on limited knowledge, while the other is a sense of deep respect based on all the life you’ve lived. Don’t wait for the crowd to free you. Be your own source of power. Be your own beacon of love. Be you and do so fearlessly. #inspiration #selflove #fearless #swimwear #loveyourbody #plussize #miamibeach 📸 @larabellenewyork

Just happy to be alive! That’s all I felt on this day. Being in nature and in the elements is my favorite thing to do. My recent trip to Cali was an eye opener to what living really is. If you followed me on insta-stories you saw I did what I wanted, when I wanted and how I wanted, took it all in and just LIVED. I work so much and try to do new things and experience life on the “fast track” like New Yorkers tend to do. Sometimes you just have to LIVE! Thank you to @neasphotography_ for an amazing day and making my trip that much more memorable! . #frankietavares #model #influencer #plussizemodel #plussizeinfluencer #style #swimwear #plussizeswimwear #cleavage #green #beautiful #gorgeous #lovinglife #smile #happygirl #positivity #curves #curvesfordays #desert #joshuatree #cali #california #photography #photographer #ashleygraham #nyfw
