This year we hosted our first Fat Camp in Canada! Our annual fat-friendly retreat landed in Prince Edward County, Ontario this spring and we can’t wait to share postcards from Fat Camp Canada with you. From brunch to birthdays the weekend in PEC was fun, relaxing, and filled with great memories. Here are some of the moments, businesses, and brands that helped make Fat Camp Canada special.
Babes That Brunch
Saturday brunch at the Drake Devonshire was one of the highlights of the weekend.
Our campers enjoyed the Chicken and Waffles and Eggs Benedict.
Fun + Games
We love to recreate the nostalgia of summer camp and arts and crafts is one of the fun ways we do this at Fat Camp.
From friendship bracelets to rock painting Fat Camp provides the time, place, crafts and Snackle Box!
What’s better than a game of cornhole with this view of Lake Ontario?
Gallery Girls
Our campers continued to take in the sights at the Oeno Gallery.
Where they could explore the Outdoor Sculpture Garden as well as indoor exhibits.
We will call this photo “Life imitating art, imitating life”.
Sculptures can be found throughout the property as well if you’re open to exploring outside the garden.
Wine Time
Next, our campers were off to a private wine tasting experience at Huff Estates which is conveniently located just a few steps away from Oeno Gallery.
Not only did our campers have an opportunity to taste older vintage library wines, but they also had a brief tour of the production facility.
The 45-minute seated tasting was held in the indoor patio overlooking the vines.
After purchasing a few bottles from Huff to bring home, our campers were off to the next winery.
A visit to PEC is incomplete without a tasting at Closson Chase Vineyards.
Another nostalgic moment Fat Camp experience is our friendship bracelet exchange.
Each camper left with a custom Fat Camp friendship bracelet and new friends.
When wine tasting, a charcuterie board is essential and this one was impressive.
Candids of the charcuterie board were clearly necessary.
Swag
We love gifting our campers with locally sourced swag and we’re thankful for our generous sponsors.
Two of our campers won trips! One lucky camper won an Intrepid Travel trip valued at $2000 to the destination of their choice. Another camper won a Road Trip Gift Box from Canadian company Guess Where Trips.
The campers who didn’t win trips walked away with fun camp-themed floaties from Float-eh. These Canadian-made floaties are fat-girl-approved and can hold up to 400 pounds.
Although in Ontario’s wine country, Fat Campers enjoyed cider from the local cidery Stock & Row.
Our campers returned home with a swag bag featuring Milk Bath Soaks from Só Luxury, a female-owned Canadian company. A weekly planner from Stil, a female-run and founded company based in Vancouver, BC. As well as mini bottles of Pet-Nat from Lacey Estates Winery. A lovely vineyard and wine business led by husband and wife Kimball and Liz Lacey.
Come To Camp
Fat Camp Canada was a success and now we’re gearing up for our fall Fat Camp in Scotland! There’s still time for you to join us in the Scottish Highlands and enjoy one of our body-positive retreats.
Local photography company, Rebecca Reeves Photography was hired for photography.
