It seems harder to find timeless spring and summer plus-size fashion pieces that last. Some of my favorite plus-size brands, including What Lo Wants, have released their final collections and are struggling to stay in business. I recently shared on Instagram that I was one of the first Plus-Size Remote Fashion Stylists for Stitch Fix. Despite my long tenure in the fashion industry, my 4+ years at Stitch Fix really opened up my world. It allowed me to style plus-size clients while traveling the world.
Every time I curate a fashion-focused post, I intentionally feature brands that offer sizes 3X and above. I also avoid including items that are nearly sold out or sold out in the larger sizes. Whenever I’m looking for new pieces, I look at women with similar body types and see how the pieces look on them. It’s a bit of a let-down when everything they suggest only goes up to size XL. I will never squeeze myself into clothes. I gave up on the idea that fashion is painful decades ago, and I refuse to spotlight brands that don’t offer extended sizes.
