One of the reasons this platform means so much to me is because it’s an outlet to create the inclusive content I need to see. Something I’ve said for years is that Black History Month needs to be every month. I’m writing this letter to express that we will be more intentional about sharing Black History, Black Joy, and Black Excellence on this platform.
When I travel I’m hyper-aware of my intersecting identities as a fat, Black, femme-presenting person. I’m often overcoming invisible obstacles and facing microaggressions during my adventures, which is why it’s so important to spotlight black-owned restaurants and hotels, countries with rich Black histories, and more.
I hope you enjoy this letter, our new additions, and the contributors we’ve worked with to develop inclusive content for Fat Girls Guide.
