Here’s a dose of travel news for frequent fliers who want to be in the know. From updates on the Boeing Airplane fiasco to the latest on our trips and events, we’re sharing the travel news that plus-size travelers need.
Boeing 411
We recently shared a plus-size traveler PSA because of all of the recent issues with Boeing airplanes. As a traveler of size, it can be intimidating to ask for a seatbelt extender and members of our community have shared some travel horror stories when it comes to dealing with rude or unresponsive flight attendants. Some plus-size flyers have opted to buy and bring their own seatbelt extender to avoid having to ask. Unfortunately, not all planes use the same type, and seatbelt extenders can vary by plane.
This is concerning to us because travelers on a recent New Zealand flight Boeing passengers describe being ‘bounced off the roof’. On a recent Alaska Airline flight, the emergency exit door of the Boeing 737 flew off mid-flight. The only thing credited with saving a passengers is his seatbelt. Cuong Tran was sitting a row behind and his body lifted out of his seat, the suction tore off his shoes and socks, and his leg was injured.
Fat Camp Updates
In just a few months we’ll be hosting the first Fat Camp Canada in Prince Edward County and space is going quickly. Fat Camp Finger Lakes Wine Country was canceled this year, but we’re re-imagining it as a Body Positive Couple’s Retreat for 2025! How incredible does experiencing the great outdoors with other plus-size couples sound? From ax throwing and fishing to enjoying the local wineries, breweries, and distilleries. We’ll learn how to prepare a delicious farm-to-table meal in a group cooking class and so much more.
If Spooky Season is your favorite time of the year or you want to spend time relaxing and writing, Fat Camp UK: Scotland should be on your radar! Your private Glamping Pod in the Highlands will be the perfect place to unwind and let your imagination flow. Not only will we enjoy a day trip to explore the area, but you’ll also learn about Scotland’s Witch Trials and Witchcraft Act. We’ll end the weekend with our own version of the Highland Games! Fat Girls World Tour Updates
In less than 30 days our 2024 Fat Girls World Tour kicks off in Amsterdam. There are still a few spots available on some of our tours and we’re currently finalizing the details for the Fat Girls World Tour 2025!
Is there anything lovelier than Amsterdam in spring? The city is bursting with flowers and our body positive travel group can’t wait to explore Amsterdam, Haarlem, and Rotterdam. This tour is closed.
Our Pueblos Magicos Tour has 5 spots available. Our 9-day Pueblos Mágicos Tour starts in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and ends in Tulum. During this trip, you’ll enjoy a private Cultural Expedition and get to be part of sacred Mayan ceremonies. Airbnb
Did you know that Airbnb currently allows hosts to place indoor security cameras in common the areas of listings if it’s disclosed in the agreement? Many members of our community were surprised to learn this and relieved to hear that Airbnb Banned Indoor Security Cameras In Listings Around the World. This new policy will go into effect on April 30 and will ban all cameras inside listings regardless of disclosure.
